Page 10 of 12 of the 2nd comic I’m translating, Gathering. Ugh, I feel like there are about a million things I need to apologize for on this page. First of all, the typesetting is super ugly. A lot of the text bubbles are overcrowded and probably hard to read. Secondly, Luna. I have to apologize for Luna because she used some grammar forms that I’m not completely familiar with and dropped the subject and left things to the implied nature of the Japanese language (which is actually one of the things I love about speaking Japanese, since it allows me to be lazy, however, it makes reading and translating Japanese extremely difficult) and I ended up puzzling over what she was saying for a long time and I’m still not I got it right. About the only thing that’s good about this page (from the perspective of translation, I don’t think it’s a bad page of the comic or anything) is that it didn’t have any sound effects and I managed to make the English sound a little more natural than I did on the last page. I’m sort of experimenting with the balance between literal translation and flow, so I apologize for variance of style between the pages. That’s completely my own fault and has nothing to do with the original content.  All that said, I hope you’ll keep in mind that this is a pretty unprofessional translation (and I’ve never claimed otherwise) and continue to bear with me and all my mistakes. Maybe once I’ve finished translating all the comics I’ll go back and do some edits to give them a more holistic feel and natural sound. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy my meager attempts at translation. The translation and doujinshi tags work just as well, since I always use both of those tags when posting pages of these comics.) I’m sorry this took so long! I really wish I was better at Japanese because I’m afraid that this page sounds a little repetitive and stiff and I was a little confused by some of what Vesta and Mars were saying. However, I think I got the general point across. The sound effect on this page is “dokun”, which is another onomatopoeia having to due with a heartbeat. Unlike something like “doki doki”, which might be used for excitement or nervousness or the heart fluttering you get around someone you like, “dokun” represents a “harder” heartbeat, the type you might get when something bad is happening and the soundtrack of the movie is reduced to the sound of a thumping heart. I represented that with “dadum” because I thought it was slightly more clear that it was a heartbeat, though in many ways I think “thump” would have worked just as well. Source: tsuki-kioku.com

Yes, I will! I apologize for neglecting this so badly. I actually do have one page already finished, but I was saving it because I had started to work on the next page and hoped to finish them both. However, I got distracted (as usual), so I kind of forgot about this. I’ll go ahead and post the next page right now and I’ll get back to translating soon.

I’m so glad that you’re enjoying my translations and want to see more. They’re very amateur, so I can’t always attest to the quality, but as a fan of many, many things with no translation whatsoever, I know that even a bad translation can be better than none, so I’ll continue sharing my efforts, as lacking as they may be.

Q:Also, do you post about Sailor Astarte??

Yes, I do! I’m pretty bad at tagging my posts (I get lazy, I need to go back and tag some of my earlier posts one of these days!), so this may not be all of the posts I’ve done about her, but checking the Sailor Astarte tag is a good place to start! I’ll also try and put together some more posts for her in the near future.

Remember, I do take requests for spams, as long as they’re related to the topic of this blog. I’ll also some subjects outside the topic, as long as I feel like they fit with the spirit of Jungle Garden Senshi, which is highlighting some of the more obscure or less appreciated characters from the Sailor Moon manga, live action, or musicals. (There’s a bit of a Crystal Tokyo focus too, so older!Chibi-Usa is fair game.) For example, I probably wouldn’t do a spam of Naru, but I have done a spam of the Maenads and I’d be all over a spam of Kotono Sarashina or Ittou Asanuma. :)

That was a lot of fun! I had to cut out early (Australia and I have drastically different time zones), but I’d love to participate in something like that again! I’m also glad it got you to check out my Tumblr, I hope you like what you see. :)

Molly York, heir to the York diamond empire and pretty young thing; found dead this morning in the family estate. There’s no doubt it’s a murder - and it’s my job to uncover the culprit.

Rei Hino. Makes money by moving money. Invested in the York business; word around town is she wasn’t happy with the way that was turning out. She’s got motive, but this dame just seems too frigid for any crimes of passion.

Mina Hart. Even I’ve heard of this one. Her face - and other body parts - make it into the tabloids on the daily. Never really sure what for. She moved in the same circles as Molly, and a while back they had something of a public falling-out when some other broad got picked over her to be the “face” of York jewellery.

Macy Oak. The gardener. There’s an awful liar if ever I saw one. She’s got no motive for the murder, but the way she fidgets, I know she’s hiding something.

Amy Rivers. Family doctor that had been living at the estate for a while. Molly had been complaining about feeling run down, out of energy, that kinda stuff. Doting mother and hypochondriac daughter must’ve been a pretty sweet setup for her. Problem was, Molly was starting to feel better. I wouldn’t peg the doc as the killer type, but I could imagine something going wrong in an attempt to make Molly feel a little less well.

Serena Warren. Maid and the daughter of Molly’s childhood nanny; apparently, the two were thick as thieves since they were kids. She seems distraught, and she sure cries enough, but ain’t it always the one you least suspect…

Please tell me that Mamoru is the hard-boiled detective. And Human Luna is the tough police investigator (with human Artemis as her bumbling partner.) Human Diana can be a spunky, but clueless reporter or something. The outers and Chibi-Usa are all rich neighbors. That’d be awesome.

They’ve started the sculpting you can check it out in this album on their site.

Can’t decide if I really like it or not, I like how Endymion is looking other than he seems to be looking too far down right now. There’s something off about Serenity to me though, guess it will depend on how the sculpt finally turns out, but Cosmos was very beautiful so…

Clearly Endymion is looking down like that because there’s supposed to be an itty-bitty Small Lady resin kit to go with those two. Get to it, E2046!
